Unless your cattle guard will be placed in a pristine environment, it is likely to gather leaves or other road debris over time. To insure the effectiveness of your Cattle Guard, the cavity below the top surface should be maintained and cleaned out. A cleanout on your cattle guard provides for a portion of the top surface to be removed without having to pull the entire guard off the footings. By removing a portion of the top surface, access to the cavity is made easy. Cleanouts are bolted in place and are an option when ordering a cattle guard. Cleanouts are not available on U-80 Cattle Guards.
